The Reference IW500201 marks the birth of the modern Big Pilot legend and is known among collectors as the original „Big Pilot's Watch“ of modern times. With its impressive case diameter of 46 mm and the distinctive conical crown, it is reminiscent of the historic observation watches of the 1940s. The brushed stainless steel case features precise Chamfers which emphasize the instrumental character of this timepiece. The matt black dial impresses with its excellent legibility and the classic Baumuster A design. A special feature of this early reference is the power reserve indicator at 3 o'clock, which is perfectly coordinated with the central seconds and the Rehaut harmonizes. The domed lens with anti-reflective coating on both sides Sapphire crystal is specially secured against a sudden drop in pressure.
Caliber and mechanics
Inside, the monumental Manufacture caliber 5011 one of the largest automatic movements in the world. It is equipped with the highly efficient Pellaton winding system and offers an impressive Power reserve of seven days (168 hours). The balance works with a stable Amplitude, which is due to the comprehensive Service 2024 was recertified. To protect against magnetic fields, the movement is embedded in a soft iron inner case. The Finissage of the movement, concealed beneath the solid case back, meets the highest quality standards of the Schaffhausen manufactory. This full set from 2003 is in an excellent state of preservation and is technically on a par with a new watch thanks to the current overhaul.
