Zenith Chronomaster T Open Concept
Concept & History
The Reference 95.0240.4021/77.C608 represents an avant-garde stage in the manufacture’s development. Conceived as the Chronomaster T Open Concept, this model from the mid-2000s breaks with classic design norms. The deliberate omission of a traditional, opaque dial in favor of a transparent structure gives the chronograph a highly technical appearance. This approach underscores the brand’s watchmaking expertise and brings the mechanical heart of the watch into focus, creating a design that forms a symbiosis of historical precision and forward-looking industrial design.
Caliber & Technology
Inside, the legendary automatic movement Caliber El Primero 4021 is at work. With a high frequency of 36,000 vibrations per hour or 5 hertz, it enables the precise measurement of tenths of a second. The movement offers a power reserve of 55 hours, with the remaining energy displayed via an indicator at six o’clock. A distinctive cutout in the dial reveals the escapement. The movement is complemented by the proven Incabloc shock protection and finished with circular graining and fine Côtes de Genève on the rotor.
Case & Material
The case, with a diameter of 40 mm, is made of titanium, ensuring low weight combined with high stability and corrosion resistance. The slim profile of just 10.5 mm ensures excellent ergonomic properties. The movement is protected by sapphire crystal on both sides, with the transparent case back allowing a view of the finishing. The construction is water-resistant to 3 ATM. A textured carbon fiber strap, secured with a triple folding clasp made of titanium, ensures a secure fit on the wrist.
Aesthetics & Readability
The visual design is dominated by the transparent dial made of TR90 plastic. A superimposed silver plate featuring Roman numerals structures the time display, while the distinctive open-heart cutout between 9 and 11 o'clock showcases the mechanical movement. The outer flange features a detailed minute track for the chronograph. The central seconds hand and the 30-minute counter at three o’clock integrate seamlessly into the highly technical, skeletonized layout and ensure that the measured times remain clearly legible despite the optical depth.
