Chronoswiss Repetition a Quarts CH1641W
Conception & Haute Horlogerie
The Repetition a Quarts embodies the central innovation of Chronoswiss from 2003: it is the world's first wristwatch with a quarter-hour repeater. While classic minute repeaters are among the most elaborate complications, the manufacture developed its own interpretation of acoustic time display with the Repetition a Quarts. The pusher at 10 o'clock activates the striking mechanism, which communicates the hours with single strikes and the full quarter hours with double strikes in different tonalities. The reference CH1641W in 18 carat white gold represents the most discreet version of this collection, the platinum version of which is based on 99 copies remained limited.
Caliber & Mechanics
At the center works the Caliber C.126 - a manufacture movement with 30 stones and Incabloc shock protection. The basis is a historic Enicar caliber 165, Chronoswiss joined forces with Dubois-Dépraz to add a repeater module mounted on the dial side. The striking mechanism has two gongs and an „all-or-nothing“ safety device that prevents inaccurate triggering. With a frequency of 21,600 A/h (3 Hz) and 35 hours power reserve the automatic movement with central rotor combines the classic art of watchmaking with modern reliability.
Case & Material
The 25-piece case, crafted from 18-karat white gold, measures 40 mm in diameter and is 13.8 mm thick. The distinctive onion-shaped crown and the repeater pusher are solidly machined from the case material. Sapphire crystals on the front and back offer a view of the in-house caliber, while screw-down lugs with the patented Autobloc system define the watch’s feel. Water resistance of 3 ATM (30 meters) underscores its positioning as a dress watch in the realm of Haute Horlogerie.
Aesthetics & Readability
The dial made from solid Sterling silver in bronze tint forms the understated frame for polished Breguet hands. The small seconds dial at 6 o'clock completes the classic layout, while the screw-down bezel with sapphire crystal guarantees glare-free readability. The brown leather strap with pin buckle in White gold rounds off the appearance. The NOS condition with complete scope of delivery and first sale date 2010 makes this example a rare opportunity for collectors of acoustic complications.
