Concept & History
The Carrera collection goes back to the design by Jack Heuer from 1963, which was specifically tailored to the high demands of professional racing drivers. It was named after the legendary and risky Carrera Panamericana road race. This reference CV201AP.FC6429 transports the DNA of these historic instruments into the present. The model is aesthetically inspired by the striking Driver chronographs of the late 1960s and combines an uncompromisingly sporty layout with the reliability of modern manufacturing standards.
Caliber & Technology
The precise drive is provided by the Calibre 16, a proven automatic movement based on an extremely robust architecture. The chronograph operates at a frequency of 28,800 A/h and provides a reliable Power reserve from approx. 56 Hours. In terms of design, the work benefits from a Incabloc shock protection, which protects the fine pivots of the balance staff when force is applied. The stop function allows precise recording of intervals of up to 12 hours with stable amplitude values.
Housing & material
The Stainless steel-housing measures a Diameter from 41 mm and features the distinctive, faceted horns typical of Carrera. A functional focus is placed on the fixed bezel made of black ceramic, which features an applied tachymeter scale. The screw-down case back bears a detailed motorsport engraving that underlines the conceptual origin of the watch. With a Water resistance from 10 ATM the construction proves to be extremely durable for daily use.
Aesthetics & readability
The dial in the characteristic reverse panda design generates excellent contrast values thanks to the white totalizers on a black background. Red accents on the central chronograph hand and the tips of the auxiliary hands optimize quick visual recognition. A sharply drawn Rehaut integrates the fine minute scale harmoniously into the overall look. The black, perforated leather strap with red lining is reminiscent of classic racing gloves and seamlessly ties in with the motorsport theme.
