The present reference 502111 marks a high point in the production of complicated timepieces from Schaffhausen. As a limited edition of only 250 copies in Platinum this model embodies the link between classic marine chronometer history and the highest level of watchmaking complexity. The perpetual calendar system, originally developed to series maturity by Kurt Klaus, is presented here in a case by 44 mm diameter, which has a substantial presence on the wrist due to the high specific weight of the precious metal.
Caliber & Technology
Inside, the manufactory's own Caliber 50611 with the efficient Pellaton elevator system. The movement offers a Power reserve from 168 hours, realized by a large spring barrel. The finissage includes Geneva strip and a fine Perlage on the bridges. The technical features include the Glashütte three-quarter plate-This is also reflected in the bridge construction and the precise moon phase display, which only deviates by one day after 577 years. The mechanical programming of the calendar takes into account all leap years up to the year 2100 without manual intervention.
Aesthetics & readability
The silver-plated dial of the reference 502111 impresses with its clear arrangement of astronomical indications. The double moon phase for the northern and southern hemispheres is positioned at 12 o'clock. The case made of Platinum features precisely crafted Chamfers and polished surfaces that emphasize its exclusive character. Thanks to the generous dimensions, the readability of the four totalizers is maintained despite the density of information. Sapphire crystal protects the ensemble on both sides and provides a view of the elaborate movement architecture.
