Rolex Datejust II
Concept & History
The Reference 116300 marks a significant evolutionary step in the history of the Oyster Perpetual Datejust. Introduced in response to the desire for more present case dimensions, this model breaks with the classic 36 mm and establishes a 41 mm Diameter. In contrast to the Datejust 41 that followed later, the Datejust II is characterized by more striking proportions, wider horns and a wider bezel. It represents an independent era between classicism and sportiness. This example from 2013 is offered as a complete set and has been 2026 underwent an extensive service.
Caliber & Technology
Inside, the Caliber 3136, a mechanical manufacture movement with automatic winding, which was developed specifically for the larger case of the Datejust II. It differs from the classic Caliber 3135 due to a larger motherboard and the built-in Paraflex anti-shock system, which significantly increases the shock resistance of the balance. The movement is COSC-certified and offers a power reserve of approx. 48 hours. Due to the recent service in the year 2026 the amplitude values as well as the gear are at absolute factory level, which guarantees technical flawlessness for years to come.
Housing & material
The housing is made of corrosion-resistant Stainless steel 904L (Oystersteel). The Reference 116300 has a polished, cambered bezel, which gives the model a more technical look than its fluted counterparts. With a diameter of 41 mm and the solid Oyster bracelet with Oysterclasp buckle and Easylink extension, the watch offers a substantial feel. The case back is screw-down, and thanks to the Twinlock system of the winding crown, water resistance to 100 meters (10 bar) is guaranteed. The condition after servicing shows no visible signs of wear.
Aesthetics & readability
The dial has a fine sunburst pattern that changes depending on the incidence of light. Characteristic of the Datejust II are the broad indexes, which are filled with luminous material and guarantee optimum legibility in all lighting conditions. The characteristic Cyclops magnifying glass at 3 o'clock enlarges the date by a factor of 2.5. The rehaut is laser-engraved with the Rolex laser engraving, which increases counterfeit protection and emphasizes the depth of detail. The combination of polished central links on the bracelet and the smooth bezel creates a play of light that makes its presence felt without being obtrusive.
