Concept & History
The Zenith Defy collection embodies the brand’s avant-garde spirit and consistently carries on a long tradition of robust construction. With the launch of the Defy Skyline, Zenith deliberately draws on the octagonal design elements of the early Defy models from 1969. The Reference 03.9300.3620/01.I001 combines this historic design language with the brand’s modern high-frequency chronometry. The architectural concept is based on clean geometry that combines urban modernity with the high functional demands of a premium sports watch.
Caliber & Technology
At the center of the construction is the Kaliber El Primero 3620. Dieses automatische Manufakturkaliber taktet mit einer Frequenz von 36.000 Halbschwingungen pro Stunde, was die Darstellung einer zehntelsekundengenauen Anzeige auf dem Hilfszifferblatt ermöglicht. Die Gangreserve beträgt 60 Stunden. Die Finissage des Werks umfasst eine skelettierte Schwungmasse mit dem charakteristischen Stern-Logo, während die präzise Amplitude und die verbaute Incabloc-Stoßsicherung eine verlässliche chronometrische Leistung unter dynamischen Bedingungen sicherstellen.
Case & Material
The angular case is crafted from stainless steel and measures 41 mm in diameter. The design features a dodecagonal bezel that overlays the octagonal base case. Distinctive bevels separate the satin-finished surfaces from the high-gloss polished edges, giving the watch a pronounced three-dimensional depth. Water resistance is certified to 10 ATM. The integrated stainless steel strap can be easily replaced without additional tools thanks to the mechanical quick-change system.
Aesthetics & Readability
The white dial is deeply engraved with a precise, regular pattern of four-pointed stars, paying direct homage to the historic Zenith logo of the 1960s. The asymmetrical placement of the small seconds sub-dial at 9 o’clock breaks the otherwise strict symmetry. Applied hour markers and faceted hands, fully coated with luminescent material, stand out clearly against the light background and ensure optimal readability. The recessed flange and flat sapphire crystal frame the face of this watch in a functional and highly precise manner.
