Concept & History
The origins of the Aquaracer collection go back to the development of professional diving watches at TAG Heuer. Designed for maritime use, this line combines strict functional specifications with sporty robustness. The present Reference CAF2011 represents an evolutionary stage that integrates the mechanical chronograph function into the high-pressure-resistant concept. The design uncompromisingly follows the requirements of diving, which is reflected in the non-slip, unidirectional rotating bezel and the striking riders at the cardinal points.
Caliber & Technology
Inside, the tried and tested Calibre 16, an automatic chronograph movement with a power reserve of 42 hours. This mechanical centerpiece clocks at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, which enables precise timekeeping to the nearest eighth of a second. An integrated Incabloc shock protection system protects the fine pivots of the balance staff from external shocks. The design also guarantees a water resistance of 30 ATM, supported by screw-down pushers and a solid screw-in crown.
Housing & material
The housing with a diameter of 43 mm is made of solid Stainless steel and alternates between satin-finished and polished surfaces. The precise chamfers emphasize the complex case architecture. The dial side is protected by a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal. The solid, screw-down case back bears the brand's typical diving bell engraving. The design is complemented by a three-row bracelet made of Stainless steel with double safety folding clasp and integrated diving extension.
Aesthetics & readability
The silver-colored dial features a fine grooved structure and concentric circles in the totalizers. Applied indices and faceted hands are generously coated with luminous material to provide maximum contrast even in adverse lighting conditions under water. A rehaut frames the display precisely. The integrated day-date indication at three o'clock complements the instrumental layout without visually disturbing the symmetrical arrangement of the sub-dials.
