IWC Portugieser Automatic Tribeca Film Festival 2013
Concept & Heritage
The IW500126 was created in 2013 as an official partnership tribunal between IWC Schaffhausen and the Tribeca Film Festival - the New York cultural institution co-founded by Robert De Niro. The limited edition of 100 copies honors the art of film with a slate gray dial as a reference to the steel and concrete architecture of Tribeca and bordeaux-colored sub-dials, that symbolize the Hollywood red carpet. The 42.3 mm measuring Stainless steel-The new Portugieser case with its classic two-body construction and sloping lugs carries the design DNA of the legendary Portugieser line since 1939.
Caliber & Technology
The centerpiece is the in-house Caliber 51011 with the efficient Pellaton jack elevator - a bidirectional winding system patented in 1950 with ceramic components for wear-free power transmission. The automatic winding system delivers exceptional Power reserve of 7 days (168 hours) at a frequency of 21,600 A/h (3 Hz). The Breguet hairspring and six-position regulation ensure maximum precision, while the date display at 6 o'clock and the power reserve indicator at 3 o'clock underline the watch's suitability for everyday use.
Housing & processing
The Stainless steel-housing with 13.9 mm height and 22 mm lug width protects the movement with a screw-down sapphire crystal back. The Water resistance up to 30 meters (3 ATM) meets the standards for dress watches without sports watch ambitions. The visible back provides a view of the rhodium-plated movement architecture with Côtes de Genève, perlage and the characteristic Pellaton pawls of the winding system. The polished bezel and domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating complete the timeless elegance.
Aesthetics & readability
The slate gray dial with sunburst decoration features applied Arabic numerals and slender feuille hands - trademarks of the Portugieser family. The bordeaux-colored sub-dials at 9 o'clock (small seconds) and 3 o'clock (power reserve indicator) provide a subtle contrast to the monochrome base. The date display at 6 o'clock with a black background blends harmoniously into the overall composition, while the discreet IWC signature and the Tribeca embossing on the case back document the exclusivity of this special edition.
