Concept & History
Reference 116710BLNR represents a milestone in the evolution of the modern GMT collection. When it was launched in 2013, Rolex introduced the world’s first two-tone ceramic bezel crafted from a single block—a technological first in the watch industry. The color combination of deep black and rich blue quickly earned it the well-established collector’s nickname “Batman.” This 2018 model is in unworn, mint condition and comes from the late production phase of this coveted reference, featuring the solid Oyster bracelet.
Caliber & Technology
At its heart is the Caliber 3186, a high-precision in-house movement with automatic winding. It features the Parachrom Breguet hairspring, which offers high resistance to magnetic fields and temperature fluctuations. The GMT function allows a second time zone to be displayed via the central blue 24-hour hand. The caliber’s robust construction provides a power reserve of approximately 48 hours. As a COSC-certified chronometer, the Caliber 3186 meets Rolex’s own accuracy specification of -2/+2 seconds per day.
Case & Material
The case, with a diameter of 40 mm, is crafted from highly polished and satin-finished 904L stainless steel, an alloy primarily used in high-tech applications. The Cerachrom bezel, with its 24-hour scale, is bidirectionally rotatable and features a platinum PVD coating on the numerals. The Triplock winding crown guarantees water resistance to 100 meters (10 bar). Since this watch is classified as unworn, all edges, bevels, and surfaces are preserved in their original factory condition without any signs of machining.
Aesthetics & Readability
The black dial provides a striking contrast to the generously sized Chromalight hour markers and hands, which glow blue in the dark. The flange features the customary serial number engraving. A distinctive aesthetic feature of this model is the visual depth of the ceramic bezel, whose blue half shimmers between navy and royal blue depending on the angle of the light. The Oyster bracelet with polished center links underscores the watch’s masculine character, while the Easylink extension on the clasp ensures a high level of comfort for everyday wear.
