Concept & History
The Chronomat line occupies a special place in the history of the Grenchen-based manufacturer. Originally launched in 1984 as a mechanical alternative to the quartz crisis and in cooperation with the Italian Frecce Tricolori flying squadron, this model redefined the segment of mechanical sports chronographs. This reference AB0134101B1A1 represents the latest evolutionary stage of this icon. It picks up on the characteristic features of the original model and translates them into the present without distorting the original DNA. It is deliberately positioned as a universally applicable chronograph that combines robustness with technical sophistication.
Caliber & Technology
Inside the timepiece, the renowned Manufacture caliber B01. This high-performance movement is characterized by a classic switching wheel control and a vertical clutch, which ensures a precise start of the stop process without jerking the second hand. With a frequency of 28,800 A/h (4 Hz) and a 70 hours power reserve the movement offers modern performance data. Certification by the COSC guarantees precise timekeeping. Chronometer gear. A sapphire crystal case back provides an insight into the architecture of the movement, which may have a technical, industrial appearance, but impresses with its clean surface finish.
Housing & material
The housing made of Stainless steel measures 42 mm in diameter and has a water resistance of 20 bar. A striking feature is the unidirectional rotating bezel with the four characteristic riders at 3, 6, 9 and 12 o'clock, which protect the sapphire crystal and increase grip. The significant rouleaux bracelet made of Stainless steel with double folding clasp distinguishes this model visually from conventional sports watches and offers a high degree of flexibility thanks to the cylindrical links. The example offered here is in NOS condition; the case still has the original protective stickers.
Aesthetics & readability
The dial has a high-contrast reverse panda look: a black background meets silver totalizers. This arrangement makes it easier to intuitively read the stopped times. On the Rehaut There is a tachymeter scale on the dial, which emphasizes its instrumental character. The symmetry of the dial is maintained by the date window at the 6 o'clock position. Red accents on the central chronograph hand provide visual dynamism, while the indices and hands coated with Super-LumiNova ensure legibility under adverse lighting conditions.
