Concept & History
The Black Bay 58 line draws inspiration from the proportions of historic diver’s watches from the 1950s. However, the 7939A1A0RU reference evokes a different era: The model is based on the aesthetic details of a prototype of the Submariner reference 79190 from the 1990s, which was never put into series production. The combination of a burgundy bezel and a dial in a precisely matching color gives this timepiece significant historical relevance within the brand’s own evolution of diving watches.
Caliber & Technology
At the heart of the watch beats the state-of-the-art in-house caliber MT5400-U. The demanding METAS certification as a Master Chronometer guarantees exceptional magnetic field resistance of up to 15,000 Gauss as well as the highest chronometric precision. An anti-magnetic silicon balance spring in the free-sprung balance ensures an absolutely stable amplitude. The guaranteed power reserve of 65 hours allows you to take the watch off over the weekend without having to manually adjust the time afterward.
Case & Material
The case, crafted from satin-finished and polished stainless steel, measures exactly 39 mm in diameter, echoing the elegant proportions of classic models. A domed sapphire crystal protects the fine details of the dial. The screw-down winding crown, deliberately designed without a visible crown tube, hermetically seals the timepiece. This ensures reliable water resistance to 200 m. The burgundy-colored bezel is made of anodized aluminum.
Aesthetics & Readability
The glossy, burgundy-colored dial with a fine sunburst finish gives the watch a deep, warm radiance. The applied hour markers and distinctive hands are filled with a powerful luminescent material to ensure excellent readability under all conditions. The second hand in the classic lollipop design is another signature detail of the brand. The watch is worn on a five-row bracelet made of stainless steel, whose T-fit clasp allows for quick and tool-free fine adjustment.
