With the Reference P6520 Porsche Design is reissuing the iconic classic from 1978 and transferring the concept into the 21st century. The case has been enlarged to a contemporary 42 millimetres and is made entirely from lightweight, hypoallergenic Titanium, which is covered with a black PVD coating was refined. The tactile quality of the bead-blasted surface underlines the instrumental character. An ingenious mechanism allows the upper part of the case - the watch itself - to be lifted to reveal the compass underneath. A mirror on the back of the watch case allows the direction and time to be read at the same time.
Caliber & Function
While the time is displayed by the reliable mechanical Automatic caliber SW300-1 with a power reserve of approx. 42 hours, the watch is powered by the Liquid compass the functional heart of this tool watch. It is removable and calibrated for both the northern and southern hemispheres. The technical complexity lies in the perfect decoupling of the magnetic compass from the movement in order to avoid interference.
Aesthetics & limitation
The dial strictly follows the design philosophy of F.A. Porsche: maximum readability through high contrast. White indices and hands with Super-LumiNova stand out sharply against the matt black background. The red second hand is the only color accent. This model is made to exactly 911 pieces limited worldwide, which significantly increases its desirability among brand enthusiasts. The engraving of the limited edition number on the case back certifies the exclusivity of this set.
