Concept & History
The connection between Chopard and the historic Mille Miglia road race manifests itself in the Reference 8992. This model combines the function of a mechanical chronograph with the practicality of a GMT complication. Its racing history is reflected in subtle design decisions reminiscent of classic instrument panels. The instrument offers reliable recording of short times and time zone changes at the highest level, designed for users with high demands on mechanical precision.
Caliber & Technology
Inside, the reliable Automatic caliber based on the Valjoux 7754, which has been officially certified as a chronometer by the COSC. The mechanism is a Power reserve of 46 hours ready. The built-in Incabloc shock protection reliably protects the fine balance staff from shocks. The sapphire crystal case back provides a clear view of the rotating oscillating weight, which is decorated with discreet Côtes de Genève, as well as precisely finished movement parts.
Housing & material
The housing made of solid Stainless steel measures 42 mm in diameter and offers a water resistance of 5 ATM. The striking bezel bears an engraved 24-hour scale for reading the GMT function. Piston-shaped pushers integrated into the case guarantee precise operation of the short-time measurement. The watch is worn on a precisely fitting Stainless steel band with a solid double folding clasp, which consistently continues the sporty and robust orientation of the timepiece on the wrist.
Aesthetics & readability
The black dial is characterized by high contrasts and a strict instrument look. The luminous Arabic numerals and main hands stand out clearly against the background. The totalizers structure the layout clearly, while the date display at 3 o'clock is equipped with a magnifying glass. The striking GMT hand with its red arrowhead ensures immediate detection of the second time zone without visual compromise.
