Concept & History
The PAM00328 is the steel amaband version of the iconic reference PAM00312 and embodies the robust evolution of historic combat diver's watches. The case profile is based on the designs of the 1950s, but the proportions have been modernized. A special feature of this model is the harmonious integration of the solid metal bracelet, whose links quote the shape of the patented crown guard. This gives the watch a technical monolithic look that clearly sets it apart from the models with a leather strap.
Caliber & Technology
The drive is provided by the manufacture caliber P.9000 with automatic winding. Two barrels provide a Power reserve from 72 hours which corresponds to a weekend without wearing time. The balance operates at 28,800 semi-oscillations per hour, secured by a Incabloc shock protection. A design highlight is the ability to adjust the hour hand independently in one-hour increments without stopping the minute hand - ideal for quickly changing time zones.
Housing & material
The 44 mm housing consists entirely of Stainless steel AISI 316L, an alloy with high corrosion resistance. The surfaces feature an interplay of satin-finished case center and polished bezel. The patented crown guard guarantees a secure fit by applying mechanical pressure to the crown. Water resistance to 30 ATM. The solid band made of Stainless steel is ergonomically shaped and can be easily exchanged for a leather or rubber strap thanks to Panerai's patented system.
Aesthetics & readability
The dial follows the classic sandwich construction: a lower level with Super-LumiNova ensures maximum luminosity of the indices and numerals through recesses in the upper dial. The small seconds at 9 o'clock visually balances the date at 3 o'clock. A slightly domed, anti-reflective sapphire crystal protects the front. On the back, a sapphire crystal back provides a clear view of the technical finish of the Caliber P.9000 with its brushed three-quarter plate.
