IWC Pilot's Chronograph Pilots Chronograph Spitfire
Aesthetics and dial
In contrast to the classic matt black pilot's chronograph of reference 3717, the Ref. 371702 Spitfire with a more elaborate dial design that bridges the gap between instrumental readability and an elegant feel. The silver dial has a fine structure that refracts the light and gives the applied indices a special depth. These appliqués replace the printed numerals of the sister model and visually emphasize its value. The characteristic propeller hands emphasize the historical DNA of IWC pilot's watches, while the date and day of the week at 3 o'clock are harmoniously integrated into the overall appearance. Despite its age of around 2006, the case is in a condition with only barely visible signs of wear, which is evidence of careful handling by the previous owner.
The caliber and the technology
Inside the 42 mm stainless steel housing, the tried-and-tested Caliber 79320. This automatic movement is based on the robust architecture of the Valjoux 7750, but has been extensively reworked and finished to IWC specifications to ensure maximum precision and longevity. An essential feature for purist collectors is the built-in Soft iron inner housing, which effectively protects the movement from magnetic fields - a technical necessity for professional pilot's watches that has been consistently retained here. The screw-down crown and solid case back guarantee the necessary durability for everyday use.
