IWC Ingenieur SL „Jumbo“ Quartz - Ref. 3303
Iconic design and history
This piece represents one of the most striking chapters in the history of IWC Schaffhausen. The Engineer SL (Steel Line) comes from the pen of legendary designer Gérald Genta and shares its aesthetic DNA with other great sports watches of the 1970s. With this reference 3303 is the extremely rare quartz version of the famous „Jumbo“ model. It exemplifies the technical reorientation of the Swiss watch industry during the quartz crisis and is highly prized among collectors today due to its low production numbers. The solid tonneau case with its characteristic bezel and five holes gives the watch an architectural presence on the wrist.
Excellent technology and feel
The dial impresses with the „graph paper structure“ (graph paper dial) typical of the Ingenieur line, which creates an enormous depth effect and underlines the technical orientation of the model. The indices and hands are coated with tritium, giving the dial an authentic vintage patina. Inside, a high-precision IWC quartz caliber combines reliability with the robustness of the Ingenieur case. The integrated steel bracelet is particularly noteworthy: the links interlock seamlessly and feature a sophisticated satin finish, accentuated only by polished edges.
Condition & Service
The watch is technically in perfect condition, as 2020 a comprehensive service was carried out. The substance of the case has been excellently preserved; the chamfers and edges are sharply defined. The Ref. 3303 thus combines historical significance with unrestricted suitability for everyday use.
