Inside, the Breitling 17, which is based on a precise automatic movement and has a power reserve of approx. 38 hours offers. Its reliability is confirmed by official COSC certification as a chronometer. Features include an Incabloc shock protection system and a stop-seconds function for precise time setting. The movement operates at a frequency of 28,800 A/h, The escapement section is designed for longevity. The constant amplitude ensures high accuracy in daily operation over the entire winding period.
Case & Material
The case made of Stainless steel has a moderate diameter of 38 mm, which ensures excellent ergonomics. A striking feature is the fluted bezel, which has been optimized for intuitive operation of the slide rule. The surfaces are finely polished, while the case flanks feature precise lines. A water resistance of 3 bar protects the mechanism from external influences. The solid case back is screwed down and closes flush, which additionally supports wearing comfort on the bracelet and emphasizes the robustness of the construction.
Aesthetics & Readability
The deep blue dial forms a high-contrast background for the polished indices and hands. The rehaut bears the complex scaling of the slide rule in a complementary silver tone, which enhances the visual depth. The Super-LumiNova coating on the main hands ensures legibility in difficult lighting conditions.
