The Chronomaster T Open Concept represents a logical evolution of the classic El Primero range. Instead of a solid dial, an open skeletonised structure reveals the movement – a design approach that allows the mechanical complexity of the calibre to be experienced directly, without relying on decorative elements.

Caliber & Technology

The watch is powered by the El Primero 4021 automatic calibre, with a frequency of 36,000 vibrations per hour (5 Hz). This high frequency enables the measurement of tenths of a second – a unique feature that has distinguished the El Primero since its launch in 1969. The power reserve is 55 hours; the remaining time can be read via an indicator at six o’clock. A cut-out in the dial reveals the escapement. Shock protection: Incabloc. Finishing: Perlage and Côtes de Genève on the rotor.

Case & Material

Case diameter: 40 mm. Material: titanium. Thickness: 10.5 mm. Sapphire crystal on both sides; the see-through case back allows the movement’s finishing to be viewed. Water resistance: 3 ATM. Strap: textured carbon fibre strap with a triple-fold clasp in titanium.

Concept & History

The Zenith Defy collection embodies the brand’s avant-garde spirit and consistently carries on a long tradition of robust construction. With the launch of the Defy Skyline, Zenith deliberately draws on the octagonal design elements of the early Defy models from 1969. The Reference 03.9300.3620/01.I001 combines this historic design language with the brand’s modern high-frequency chronometry. The architectural concept is based on clean geometry that combines urban modernity with the high functional demands of a premium sports watch.

The integrated stainless steel strap can be easily replaced without additional tools thanks to the mechanical quick-change system.

The white dial is deeply engraved with a precise, regular pattern of four-pointed stars, paying direct homage to the historic Zenith logo of the 1960s. The asymmetrical placement of the small seconds sub-dial at 9 o’clock breaks the otherwise strict symmetry. The Zenith Defy El Primero 21, Reference 95.9001.9004/01.R582, marks a technological turning point for high-frequency chronographs. Zenith builds on this historical legacy and extends the physical limits of mechanical timekeeping. This model series represents the consistent further development of short-time measurement, with the exact recording of hundredths of a second at the heart of the design. This example from 2021 is in New Old Stock condition and is offered with the original papers and box.

Caliber & Technology

The automatic caliber works inside El Primero 9004. It has two independent escapement systems. The regular time display operates at 36,000 vibrations per hour, while the chronograph mechanism oscillates at 360,000 vibrations per hour. The central hand completes one full rotation per second. The construction guarantees a 50 hours power reserve for the basic time display. A sophisticated finish with a skeletonized rotor in the shape of a star completes the technical layout of this high-performance movement.

Case & Material

The complex case measures 44 mm in diameter and is made of corrosion-resistant Titanium manufactured. The architectural lines are characterized by striking flanks and precisely crafted chamfers, which are alternately polished and satin-finished.
