Concept & History

The World Time Moon “175th Anniversary” was introduced in 2014 to mark Patek Philippe’s 175th anniversary and was produced in a limited edition of 1,300 pieces. Reference 5575G-001 is the first model in the Manufacture’s history to combine the classic world time function designed by Louis Cottier with a moon phase display. The world time complication itself dates back to the 1930s; Patek Philippe patented it in 1959 and established it as a distinct category through references such as the 2523. On the rotating city disc of the 5575G-001, “Geneva” replaces the usual mention of Paris—a distinctive feature of this year’s anniversary references.

Caliber & Technology

The watch is powered by the 240 HU LU caliber, an ultra-thin automatic movement based on the Caliber 240 introduced in 2000, equipped with a 22-karat gold micro-rotor. The movement features 35 jewels, a free-sprung Gyromax balance wheel, and operates at a frequency of 21,600 A/h (3 Hz). The power reserve is 48 hours. A pusher at 10 o’clock allows the local time display to be adjusted by the hour independently of the minute and second displays, as is characteristic of the world time complication designed by Louis Cottier.

Case & Material

The case, crafted from 18-karat white gold, measures 39.8 mm in diameter and features the curved Lyra lugs characteristic of this model. The solid case back is engraved with “175e Anniversaire 1839–2014.” The sapphire crystal is slightly domed, and the watch is water-resistant to 3 ATM. The black alligator leather strap is hand-stitched and fitted with a white gold folding clasp, which also bears the anniversary engraving “Patek Philippe 1839–2014.” The lug width and strap dimensions correspond to the factory specifications for this reference.

Aesthetics & Readability

The multi-layered black dial combines a rotating 24-city scale with a day-night indicator and a central, photorealistic moon phase display set against a star-studded background. The hours and minutes are indicated by star-shaped white gold hands that evoke the Southern Cross constellation. The local time is always displayed at 12 o’clock, while eastern and western time zones are arranged on either side. Despite the high density of information, the combination of the city ring, day-night segment, and central moon phase display ensures clear readability of the respective local time.

Concept & History

The Calatrava model line is considered a historical constant in the portfolio of the Geneva-based manufacture. With reference 5107G-001 In the early 2000s, a proportional adjustment was made to meet the increased demands for physical presence on the wrist. The design language strictly adheres to Bauhaus philosophy, where aesthetics follow function. The present example from 2002 is in unworn, new condition after a full service in 2026.

Caliber & Technology

Inside the watch, the automatic manufacture caliber is at work 315 SC. The mechanical architecture is characterized by a central rotor made of 21 karat solid gold powered, which a highly efficient energy transfer for a power reserve of up to 48 hours guarantees. The finissage of the watch includes traditional embellishment techniques, including precise Côtes de Genève on the bridges as well as elaborate chamfering on the edges. The patented Gyromax balance wheel system ensures the high chronometric precision of the escapement.

Case & Material

The from 18 carat white gold manufactured case measures 37 mm in diameter and features an integrated crown guard that secures the screw-down crown. The construction has softly flowing flanks and a subtly domed, smooth bezel. Through the screw-down case back made of scratch-resistant Sapphire crystal allows the mechanics of the caliber to be studied in detail. The water resistance is, by design, limited to a pressure of up to 25 meters respectively 2.5 ATM) designed for.

Aesthetics & Readability

The opaline silver dial is characterized by a reduced, clear symmetry. Applied faceted indices made of White gold correspond exactly with the tapering Dauphine hands. A fine minute track around the outer edge of the rehaut allows for precise reading of the time, while the framed date window at three o'clock is flushly integrated into the overall design. The model is worn on a dark blue strap made of genuine Alligator leather, which is characterized by a brand-typical pin buckle White gold is secured.

The icon in bicolor guise

The Referenz 3700/11AJ The original Nautilus marks one of the most important milestones in the history of haute horlogerie. Designed by Gérald Genta, this model has defined the genre of the sporty luxury watch since the 1970s. This version in Steel and 18k yellow gold from the year 1986 combines the architectural rigor of the porthole construction with the warm aesthetics of precious metal. The characteristic two-part Monobloc case with side hinges ensures impressive watertightness and stability despite the flat design.

Legendary movement and condition

Inside, the ultra-flat Caliber 28-255 C, based on the legendary JLC 920 raw movement. It is considered by connoisseurs to be one of the most sophisticated automatic movements of the 20th century, equipped with an oscillating weight with ruby bearings on a beryllium-bronze rail. The absence of a second hand emphasizes the purist calm of the dial with its typical horizontal relief embossing. Case design and aesthetics

The Reference 5153J-001 interprets the tradition of officer's watches at the highest level. The 38 mm case made of 18k yellow gold is characterized by two distinctive design features: the straight, screwed lugs and the solid Hinged lid (cuvette) on the back of the case. This protects the sapphire crystal back and can be opened discreetly via a barely perceptible protrusion on the crown. The dial in opaline silver has a hand-guilloché center with a fine ray cut that creates enormous depth depending on the incidence of light. Applied gold indices in an arrow design and dauphine hands complete the classic look of this dress watch. A folding clasp with a Calatrava cross ensures a secure fit.

Mechanics and finissage

Underneath the hinged gold cuvette, the automatic Caliber 324 S C. This movement is considered the benchmark for flat central rotor calibers. The 21-carat gold rotor ensures efficient winding. The balance oscillates at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz) and is equipped with the patented Gyromax balance and the Spiromax hairspring made of Silinvar, which ensures high rate stability. The finishing includes Côtes de Genève on the bridges, beaded plates and beveled edges that meet the high standards of the Geneva manufactory. This full set from 2009 shows only minimal, barely visible signs of wear and offers collectors a rare combination of technical finesse and haptic excellence.
