The Reference 581 represents the consistent evolution of design reduction towards a resilient sports watch. With a case diameter of 42 millimeters and a striking presence on the wrist, this model breaks with the classic restraint of the Tangente line without denying its DNA. The navy-black dial impresses with its excellent depth effect, while the generous use of Superluminova on the indices and hands guarantees unrestricted legibility in adverse lighting conditions. The case is tested to a pressure of 30 bar, which underlines the maritime orientation of this Neomatik version.

Mechanical excellence: The DUW 6101 caliber

Inside, the flat, self-winding DUW 6101 manufacture caliber is at work. This movement is characterized by the innovative rapid date adjustment, which operates in both directions. The Finissage of the movement with Glashütte striping, temperature-blued screws and the Nomos swing system is visible through the sapphire crystal case back. Accuracy is ensured by precise adjustment in six positions. The robust metal bracelet made of 145 individual parts is screwed together and blends seamlessly with the striking horns of the Tangent Sport. The NOMOS GLASHÜTTE Tangente 100 years of Bauhaus Jeweler OEKE is a special edition that combines the classic design of NOMOS with the aesthetic clarity and functional minimalism of the Bauhaus school. The limited to 250 pieces celebrates the 100th anniversary of the Bauhaus and will be presented in a unique Special Edition which combines the elegant, timeless design of the Tangente with a modern homage to the historic art school.

Caliber & Technology

The clock is driven by the Manufacture caliber Alpha, a Hand-wound caliber with a Power reserve of 43 hours. The Alpha caliber ensures that the watch provides reliable timekeeping, with the Côtes de Genève and Perlage are visible inside the watch, underlining the masterful workmanship and craftsmanship of NOMOS GLASHÜTTE.

Housing & processing

The 35 mm stainless steel housing has a clear, geometric shape that fits perfectly into the Bauhaus design. The polished surface and the precisely machined Chamfers make the housing shine in a noble gloss. The Simple elegance of the watch is accentuated by the striking red hand of the small second hand.

Aesthetics & Readability

Concept & History

The reference 201 marks the original design of the Ludwig line. Unlike later models with sapphire crystal backs, this design is strictly based on the historical tradition of Glashütte pocket watches: A closed back protects the movement. This design makes the watch the thinnest mechanical watch in the Nomos portfolio of this era. It offers the most authentic introduction to the world of Saxon manufactories, reduced to the essentials.

Caliber & Technology

The centerpiece is the Manufacture caliber Alpha, Nomos' first own movement. Despite the closed case back, the technology is manufactured to the highest standards: Glashütte three-quarter plate, stop second and Temperature blued screws are installed. With a Power reserve from approx. 43 hours hand-winding is a daily ritual. Note for buyers: Due to the storage period since 2012 (NOS), the price was calculated in such a way that a preventive inspection of the plant remains economically attractive.

Case & Material

The absence of a sight glass in the base reduces the overall height of the Stainless steel-housing to extremely flat 6.3 mm. This gives the Ludwig a wearing comfort that modern automatic watches cannot match - it glides effortlessly under any shirt cuff. The three-part design with the characteristically narrow lugs looks present on the wrist, but never obtrusive.

Aesthetics & Readability

The dial is galvanized and silver-plated in white, which creates a fine-grained shimmer in the light. The Roman numerals and the filigree railroad minute scale on the Rehaut define the classic alignment. Pointer from temperature blued steel (Cornflower Blue) set the only color accent on the monochrome surface. The reference 201 is design culture in its purest form - without the distraction of looking at the rotor or the movement.

Concept & History

The Ref. 169 embodies the purist Bauhaus philosophy of the Glashütte manufactory in perfect form. This specific version adds two of the most useful complications in mechanical watchmaking to the basic functional design. As a New Old Stock from the year 2013 this timepiece is a rarity on the secondary market. The design focuses on absolute reduction, whereby the mechanical extensions have been seamlessly integrated into the extremely symmetrical appearance of the wristwatch.

Caliber & Technology

The drive is provided by the precise Manufacture caliber DUW 4401 with manual winding. A patented module controls the decentralized indication of the 42 hours power reserve. The traditional finish is visible through the sapphire crystal back: The rhodium-plated Glashütte three-quarter plate wears noble Côtes de Genève, while temperature blown Blue screws and polished Chamfers underline the high standard of craftsmanship. The assembly ensures a highly stable amplitude through strict fine adjustment. In addition, a Incabloc shock protection effectively protects the balance staff from mechanical shocks.

Case & Material

The cylindrical housing of the Ref. 169 consists of Stainless steel and is completely polished to a high gloss. With a classic diameter of 35 mm the design is subordinate to the dimensions of traditional dress watches. Filigree, angled lugs ensure an ergonomic fit on the wrist. Flat polished Sapphire crystal protects the dial, while a sapphire crystal back reveals the movement. The construction is up to 3 ATM waterproof and therefore protected against everyday splashing water.

Aesthetics & Readability

The galvanized, white silver-plated dial captivates with maximum clarity. The black typography of Arabic numerals and narrow indices provides an excellent contrast. Cornflower blue hands ensure legibility from any angle. A two-tone indicator visualizes the power reserve prominently in the upper dial segment. The recessed small seconds and the harmoniously integrated window date at six o'clock complete the dial layout. A narrow Rehaut frames the display precisely without disturbing the flat proportions.
