The Planet Ocean collection pays homage to maritime history and has established itself as a robust diver’s watch designed to meet professional standards. With the Reference 2200.51.00, a striking “Big Size” variant was introduced that combines functionality with an instrumental design. The design is aimed at collectors seeking a striking tool watch with historical DNA. This 2011 model underwent a complete overhaul in 2025, ensuring long-term technical reliability.
Caliber & Technology
The model is powered by the chronometer-certified Caliber 2500. This self-winding mechanical movement features the Co-Axial escapement, which reduces friction within the movement and enhances long-term timekeeping stability. The movement offers 48 hours of power reserve and beats at 25,200 vph. The free-sprung balance spring provides additional resistance to external shocks. A helium escape valve at 10 o’clock enables safe pressure equalization during saturation dives.
Case & Material
The solid case made of Stainless steel measures 45,5 mm im Durchmesser und ist strikt für extreme Einsätze konzipiert. Eine solide Konstruktion garantiert eine Wasserdichtigkeit von 60 ATM. Auf dem verschraubten Gehäuseboden ist das charakteristische Seamaster-Seepferdchen als Relief präzise ausgearbeitet. Die unidirektional drehbare Taucherlünette besitzt ein schwarzes Aluminium-Inlay. Ein beidseitig entspiegeltes Saphirglas schützt die Anzeige. Das robuste Gliederarmband aus Stainless steel schließt mit einer Faltschließe samt Tauchverlängerung.
Aesthetics & Readability
The deep black dial of the Reference 2200.51.00 is designed with uncompromising emphasis on contrast. Wide, arrow-shaped hands and applied hour markers are generously coated with luminescent material, ensuring precise readability in deep waters. Silver Arabic numerals punctuate the watch face. The date is discreetly integrated at the 3 o’clock position. Red “Seamaster” lettering subtly accentuates the monochrome dial without compromising the watch’s instrumental functionality in use.
